Canadian School Libraries Presents: Dear School Library – A National Campaign
Canadian School Library Day – Monday, October 27, 2025
We know why school libraries are important. It’s time to spread that message far and wide, from coast to coast to coast. Help us lift up our communities’ voices and tell Canada why they love school libraries.
In partnership with the Ontario School Library Association, Canadian School Libraries is proud to bring the Dear School Library Project to school libraries all across Canada.
First conceived as a pencil-and-paper task, a Dear School Library has been redeveloped with an equity lens, to be more inclusive, grounded in Universal Design for Learning pedagogy. You’ll find templates in a variety of formats and modalities, and improved supports for implementing a campaign in your own school library learning commons.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
Easy peasy! Use any of the templates provided (or do your own thing) then share your #DearSchoolLibrary love with Canadian School Libraries for the chance to win a prize!
WHAT CAN I WIN?
Eligible participants can win one of the following:
- 1 of 4 – $500 book packs (approximately 25 books in each) from Saunders Books
- 1 of 5 – $50 Indigo gift certificates from the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation
- 1 of 10 – $15 gift certificates from Books & Company (only for participants located in Northern BC)
- 1 of 10 – $50 gift certificates to a local bookstore of your choice from Canadian School Libraries
Winners will be contacted by email, announced in a newsletter from Canadian School Libraries, and celebrated in the Winter 2026 edition of Canadian School Library Journal.
